Please note that version 6 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows has been released. We recommend that all Home, Corporate and Mail Server users of
version 3 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows upgrade their program to the newest version as soon as possible.
A user with restricted rights may encounter the following message when trying to run the Updater on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

To enable users with restricted rights to be able to update the virus signature files, a user with administrator rights needs to
give them write access to the Updater's registry key. Do the following:
NB! Before you begin make sure you are logged onto the computer with administrative privileges.
If your computer is a part of a network, contact your system administrator for more information.
Please select the appropriate operating system
For Windows XP
- Press Start and click on Run. Then, type regedit.

- Locate the following registry key.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FRISK Software International\FP-Updater]
- Right-click on the registry key and select Permissions.

- In the "Permission" panel, select the user who you want to give access to the Updater's registry key
and check Full Control.

- Click Apply to confirm the changes and then OK to close the panel. Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
For Windows 2000
- Press Start and click on Run. Then, type regedt32.
- Locate the following registry key.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FRISK Software International\FP-Updater]
- Click the Security tab and select Permissions.
- In the "Permission" panel, select the user who you want to give access to the FP Updater registry key
and check Full Control.
- Click Apply to confirm the changes and then OK to close the panel. Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
