Please note that version 6 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows has been released. We recommend that all Home, Corporate and Mail Server users of
version 3 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows upgrade their program to the newest version as soon as possible.
If you use Windows XP as your operating system, you can download Service Pack 2 for Windows XP
from
Microsoft's website.
Included in Service Pack 2 is a Security Center that runs as a background process
and checks the status of the following components on your computer:
- Firewall The Security Center checks whether Windows Firewall is on or off. It also checks for
the presence of some other software firewalls by querying for specific WMI providers made available
by participating vendors.
- Automatic Updates The Windows Security Center checks to make sure that Automatic Updates is
set to the recommended settings, allowing automatic download and installation of critical updates.
If Automatic Updates is switched off or is not set to the recommended settings, the Security Center
provides appropriate recommendations.
- Virus protection The Windows Security Center checks for the presence of antivirus software
using queries for specific WMI providers that are made available by participating vendors.
If the information is available, the Windows Security Center service also determines whether
the software is up-to-date and whether real-time scanning is switched on. F-PROT Antivirus for
Windows supports the Security Center since version 3.15.
