| I have a firewall installed and am having trouble using the Updater |
If you have a firewall installed or connect through a proxy make sure that the Updater is "allowed" through to update.
The built-in firewall in Windows XP will let the F-PROT Antivirus Updater through without a comment. However, most firewalls will ask if they should allow the Updater to go through for the first time the Updater is launched after the installation or upgrade of the firewall:
Kerio personal firewall asks if the Updater should be allowed to go on the Internet. By checking the box circled in this picture Kerio will not ask you again if the Updater should be allowed to go to the Internet. It will allow the Updater through without comment.
Sygate personal firewall will also ask you for the first time and give you the option to check in a box that remembers your answer for the F-PROT Antivirus Updater.
