| Installation almost completes, but ends up rewinding and producing a fatal error |
When installing F-PROT Antivirus, you get to as far as 80% of the "copying files" process. After that, the installation stops for a second, then rewinds (rolls back) and you get a "Fatal error: Installation ended prematurely because of an error." After you click OK the installer quits.
The cause: A previous installation may have left some information in the Windows driver store.
The solution:
Delete the FRISK Software folders in the following paths:
Now navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Drvstore (or %systemroot%\System32\Drvstore) and check whether it contains a folder named FPAV_RTP_xxxxxx (where xxxxxx is variable). Delete this folder if it exists.
When these folders have been deleted, run the installation again and it should complete successfully.
msiexec /i <filename.msi> /lv C:\fpav_install.log
You may send the log file name "fpav_install.log" located in drive C at support@f-prot.com so we can diagnose the installation error properly.
