| In Windows Vista you receive a "Fatal error: Installation ended prematurely because of an error" error message |
When installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows on Windows Vista , you get the welcome screen. As soon as you click Next you get a "Fatal error: Installation ended prematurely because of an error." and after you click OK the installer quits.
The cause: Most likely the VBScript.DLL is not registered correctly in Windows Vista.
The solution: Register the VBScript.DLL file
Click the Start button (bottom left corner), type CMD in the search field at the bottom. An icon with the text CMD will appear in the top left part of the window. Right-click on it and select "Run as Administrator". Confirm this action if User-Access-Control requests it.
In the command prompt, enter the following command:
regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\vbscript.dllPress ENTER and the next line should have a message saying the registration was successful. You can now run the installation again and it will install correctly.
If this does not work, please reinstall F-PROT Antivirus at the command-line with the log switch. Please use the following command:
msiexec /i <filename.msi> /lv C:\fpav_install.log
You may send the log file name "fpav_install.log" located in drive C at support@f-prot.com so we can diagnose the installation error properly.
You may also consider reinstalling the VBScript from the

Version 5.6, Windows Script Components, Windows Script Host 5.6, and
Windows Script Runtime Version 5.6.
