How to view, run, create new, change or delete advanced scan

Advanced scan is where you create a scan to specify your desired scan settings; for example you may configure how deep F-PROT Antivirus will scan your computer and how F-PROT Antivirus will react if the virus is found.

You may also create a scheduled task to run on specified dates or at regular intervals.

Below is a step-by-step guide to manage advanced scanning. Please select what would you like to do:

• Viewing advanced scan
• Running advanced scan
• Changing advanced scan
• Deleting advanced scan

Viewing advanced scan

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Advanced, select Advance scan. Then, the lists of advanced scan are displayed. These advanced scan can either be run, change or delete.

Running advanced scan

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Advanced, select Advance scan.
4. In the Advance scan window, select the particular advanced scan you would like to run and then click Run. F-PROT Antivirus will then scan your computer according to your scan settings.

Creating new advanced scan

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Advanced, select Advance scan.
4. In the Advance scan window, click New. Then, the Advance scan properties window opens.
5. In the Advance scan properties window, enter the name of the scan in "Scan name" (e.g. Scan hard drive or Scan My Document). Also, specify what drives should be scanned in "Scan path" (e.g. C:\). Click Browse for your convenience.
6. Under How to scan, select how F-PROT Antivirus will scan your computer e.g. "Thorough scan", "Normal scan" (default), "Quick scan". For detailed description on the scanning levels of F-PROT Antivirus, see What are the scanning levels for F-PROT Antivirus.
7. Under Also scan, select either "Inside subfolders", "Compressed files" and "Streams (all selected by default).
8. Under How to react if a virus is found, select which scanning action to take when a virus is found e.g. "Disinfect, quarantine if unsuccessful" (default), "Report only", "Disinfect, continue if unsuccessful", and "Quarantine". 9. Click Save then the newly created advanced scan appears in the Advance scan window immediately.

Changing advanced scan

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Advanced, select Advance scan.
4. In the Advance scan window, select the particular advanced scan you would like change. Click Change and the Advance scan properties opens. Make the needed changes and then click Save.

Deleting advanced scan

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Advanced, select Advance scan.
4. In the Advance scan window, select the particular advanced scan you would like to delete and then click Delete. F-PROT Antivirus sends deleted advanced scan to the Recycle Bin.
