How to set up the automatic scanners.

Below is a step-by-step guide to set up the automatic scanners. Please select the particular automatic scanner you want to set up.

• Automatic file system protection
• Microsoft Office protection
• Outlook e-mail protection
• Internet Explorer protection

Setting up automatic file system protection

We highly recommend setting up automatic file system protection to protect all kind of files and not Microsoft Office documents only.

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Virus scanners, select File system.
4. In the File system window, check the Enable automatic file protection (default) check box to activate the service.
5. Under Level of protection, select All files (recommended) (default).

All files (recommended) -- F-PROT Antivirus provides protection to all files as you accessed them on your computer.

6. Under How to react if a virus if found, select either Disinfect automatically (default) or Ask each time.

Disinfect automatically -- F-PROT Antivirus automatically disinfect all infected files without user interaction.
Ask each time -- F-PROT Antivirus notifies you about the infection, but requires user interaction to disinfect them.

7. Click Save.

Setting up Microsoft Office (2000 and newer) protection

A yellow graphic symbol will appear in the System status menu if this automatic scanner is selected. For further information, see How to confirm the status of the automatic scanners.

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Virus scanners, select File system.
4. In the File system window, check the Enable automatic file protection (default) check box to activate the service.
5. Under Level of protection, select Microsoft Office only.

Microsoft Office only -- F-PROT Antivirus provides protection to all Microsoft Office documents only.

6. Under How to react if a virus if found, select either Disinfect automatically (default) or Ask each time.

Disinfect automatically -- F-PROT Antivirus automatically disinfect all infected files without user interaction.
Ask each time -- F-PROT Antivirus notifies you about the infection, but requires user interaction to disinfect them.

7. Click Save.

Setting up Outlook e-mail protection

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Virus scanners, select Internet/E-mail.
4. In the Internet/E-mail window, check the Enable Outlook e-mail protection (default) check box to activate the service.
5. Under E-mail settings, check the Enable heuristic (default) check box to provide the highest possible protection against unknown virus threats.
6. Click Save.

Setting up Internet Explorer protection

1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
3. Under Virus scanners, select Internet/E-mail.
4. In the Internet/E-mail window, check the Enable Internet Explorer protection (default) check box to activate the service.
5. Under Internet Explorer settings, check the Enable heuristic (default) check box to provide the highest possible protection against unknown virus threats.
6. Click Save.
