| How to view, remove or restore backed up files |
F-PROT Antivirus backs up files automatically before any attempt to disinfect infected/suspicious files. This is to make sure a back up exists if the file becomes corrupted during the cleaning process. These files can either be restored or removed at your own risk.
Note: All backed up files are removed when the program is uninstalled. For further information, see What get removed when I uninstall F-PROT Antivirus?
Below is a step-by-step guide to view, restore and remove your backed up files. Please select what would you like to do:
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- Click the Virus scanners menu.
- Under Advanced, select Backup. Then the lists of backed up files are displayed. These backed up files can be either be restored or remove from the list.
Backed up files can be safely restored either to their original location or anywhere in the hard drive. If the filename you are trying to restore already exists in the given path, you are prompted either to change the name of the file or to cancel the restoration.
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- Click the Virus scanners menu.
- Under Advanced, select Backup.
- In the Backup window, select the particular files you want to restore and click Restore.
Note: Do not remove any backed up files unless you are sure that these files are no longer needed. Files that are removed are not placed in the Recycle bin and therefore cannot be restored. Removing files will permanently delete the files from your computer.
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- Click the Virus scanners menu.
- Under Advanced, select Tasks.
- In the Backup window, select the particular files you want to remove and click Remove.
