You can control how thoroughly F-PROT Antivirus will scan objects on your computer and the level of heuristics that will be used. F-PROT Antivirus has three different scan levels available.
When setting up the level of scanning, please make sure that you set F-PROT Antivirus to scan inside subfolders, archives and compressed files, and data streams as well.
Below are scanning levels of F-PROT Antivirus with their respective description.
| Scan Levels |
Description |
| Thorough scan |
Heuristics and neural network detection of new viruses are used.
Slight probability of false positive where the scanner incorrectly classifies a file as a virus. The incorrect detection occurs either by heuristics or by a dated virus signature in a database.
It performs extensive scanning on files including archives.
Slow scanning speed.
Recommended if you have the reason to believe that your computer is infected with malware. |
| Normal scan (default) |
All normal heuristics are used and therefore detection of new viruses is high.
Least probability of false positive where the scanner incorrectly classifies a file as a virus. The incorrect detection occurs either by heuristics or by a dated virus signature in a database.
It performs standard scanning on files including archives.
Fast scanning speed.
Recommended. |
| Quick scan |
Minimum heuristics are used and therefore detection of new viruses is less.
Almost none probability of false positive where the scanner incorrectly classifies a file as a virus. The incorrect detection occurs either by heuristics or by a dated virus signature in a database.
It performs a very fast scan on files including archives.
Very fast scanning speed. |
