How to view, rescan, restore or remove quarantined items

Note: Quarantined files are removed when you uninstall the program. For further information, see What gets removed when I uninstall F-PROT Antivirus?

Below is a step-by-step guide to manage your quarantined items. Please select what would you like to do:

Viewing quarantined items

  1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
  2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
  3. Under Quarantine, select Items. Then, your quarantined items are displayed.

Rescanning quarantined items

Infected items that have been disinfected successfully can be safely restored to their original location. If an infected file still remains disinfected after rescanning, you need to update the virus signature files.

  1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
  2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
  3. Under Quarantine, select Items.
  4. In this window, select the items you want to rescan and then click Rescan.

Restoring quarantined items

Restore the quarantined items when they are successfully disinfected after rescanning. They can be restored either to their original location or anywhere in the hard drive. If the filename you are trying to restore already exists in the given path, you are prompted either to change the name of the file or to cancel the restoration.

  1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
  2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
  3. Under Quarantine, select Items.
  4. In this window, select the items you want to restore and then click Restore.

Removing quarantined items

Note: Do not remove any items from the quarantine unless you are sure that these files are no longer a threat. Files that are removed are not placed in the Recycle bin and therefore cannot be restored. Removing files from Quarantine will permanently delete the files from your computer.

  1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
  2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
  3. Under Quarantine, select Items.
  4. In this window, select the items you want to remove and then click Remove.
