How to view, add, delete or edit scheduled tasks

F-PROT Antivirus allows you to schedule tasks to automate virus scanning. You may schedule tasks to run once, daily, weekly, monthly or at logon. These scheduled tasks can either be modified or deleted at any time.

Please note that you cannot schedule a task for updating or upgrading F-PROT Antivirus. For further information, see How to set up automatic updates

Viewing scheduled tasks

  1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
  2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
  3. Under Advanced, select Advance scan. Then, all scheduled tasks (marked "Yes" under Scheduled) are displayed.

Adding scheduled tasks

Before you schedule a task, please make sure the computer's date and time settings are correct.

  1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
  2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
  3. Under Advanced, select Advanced scan.
  4. From this window, click New and the Advance scan properties window opens.
  5. From this window, do the following:
  6. Scan information

    • In "Scan name", enter the name of the task.
    • In "Scan path", enter the path of files, folders or drives to scan. For your convenience, click Browse.

    How to scan

    • Specify how F-PROT Antivirus will scan your computer. Select either "Quick scan", "Normal scan" (default) or "Thorough scan". For detailed description on the scanning levels of F-PROT Antivirus, see What are the scanning levels for F-PROT Antivirus?

    Also scan

    • For additional scan settings, specify which files will be scanned as well. Select either "Inside subfolders", "Compressed files" or "Streams". They are all selected by default.

    How to react if a virus is found

    • Specify which scanning action to take when a virus is found. Select either "Disinfect, quarantine if unsuccessful" (default), "Report only", "Disinfect, continue if unsuccessful" or "Quarantine".   7. Click Schedule and specify how frequent the scheduled task to be performed e.g. Once, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, At logon.
  8. If "Once" is selected, select the time and the date you would like this single scan to run.

    If "Daily" is selected, select the time and the scan runs at the time specified everyday.

    If "Weekly" is selected, select the time and the weekdays that you would like the scan to run. By default, all days from Sunday through Saturday are selected.

    If "Monthly" is selected, select the time and the day of the month that you would like the scan to run. Permitted numbers are between 1 and 31. Please note that not all months have 31 days. If you select the number 31, scans will only be performed in months with 31 days.

    If "At log on" is selected, no entry is needed for this setting. F-PROT Antivirus will scan your computer each time you logon.

  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Save.

Deleting scheduled tasks

  1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
  2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
  3. Under Advanced, select Advance scan.
  4. In this window, select the particular task you would like to delete and then click Delete. F-PROT Antivirus sends deleted tasks to the Recycle Bin.

Editing scheduled tasks

  1. Run F-PROT Antivirus.
  2. Click the Virus scanners menu.
  3. Under Advanced, select Advance scan.
  4. In this window, select the particular task you would like change and click Change. Make the needed changes and then click Save.
