Exclusion lists are files, folders, and extensions that are being excluded from both automatic and manual
scanning. F-PROT Antivirus prohibits the use of wildcards (*) in excluding files, folders and extensions.
Note:
- This setting is for ADVANCED USERS only.
- Using this utility improperly can leave your computer vulnerable to viruses.
Below is a step-by-step guide to add exclusions, view, and delete your exclusion lists. Please select what would you like to do:
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- Click the Virus scanners menu.
- Under Advanced, select Exclusions and all the excluded files, folders and extensions
are displayed. These items can be deleted from the lists if they are unnecessary.
Note: Excluding a drive from a root is prohibited (C:\).
F-PROT Antivirus will scan all files on your computer, except the specified folder and its subfolders e.g. "C:\tmp".
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- Click the Virus scanners menu.
- Under Advanced, select Exclusions.
- In the Exclusions window, click Folder to specify a folder that is to be excluded from scanning.
- Enter the folder's path you would like to exclude or for your convenience click Browse.
- Check Exclude subfolders (default) if you also want to exclude the subfolders. Otherwise, leave this option unchecked.
- Click OK. The newly created exclusion list appears in the Exclusions window immediately.
F-PROT Antivirus will scan all files on your computer, except the specified file e.g. "C:\example.txt".
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- Click the Virus scanners menu.
- Under Advanced, select Exclusions.
- In the Exclusions window, click File to specify a file that is to be excluded from scanning.
- Enter the file's path you would like to exclude or for your convenience click Browse.
- Click OK. The newly created exclusion list appears in the Exclusions window immediately.
Note: Extensions such as .com .exe .dll .scr .pif .ocx .bat .cpl .cmd .lnk .reg .shs .vbs .pl .js are prohibited.
F-PROT Antivirus will scan all files on your computer, except the files with the specified extension e.g. ".zip".
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- Click the Virus scanners menu.
- Under Advanced, select Exclusions.
- In the Exclusions window, click Extension to specify what type of extension that is to be excluded from scanning.
- Enter the extension you would like to exclude (e.g. .zip).
- Click OK. The newly created exclusion list appears in the Exclusions window immediately.
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- Click the Virus scanners menu.
- Under Advanced, select Exclusions.
- In the Exclusions window, select the excluded path you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
