F-PROT Antivirus system service (FPAVServer.exe) constantly monitors the status of its
program's versions such as virus signature file, scanning engine version number, version number, subscription
and more.
Therefore we highly recommend keeping the system service for F-PROT Antivirus running.
Below is a step-by-step guide to stop and restart the service. Please select what would you like to do:
Stopping F-PROT Antivirus system service
Stopping F-PROT Antivirus system service (FPAVServer.exe) will display red graphic symbols in the
System status (see below), Virus scanners, and Updates menu. Please note that any data entered or changes
made in the program and not saved will be lost.

To stop F-PROT Antivirus system service (FPAVServer.exe):
Notes:
- For Windows XP and 2003 users, you do not need to restart your computer to disable F-PROT Antivirus system service. You may
need to perform steps 1 to 7.
- For Windows 2000, please perform steps 1 to 4 only and then restart your computer.
- Press Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
- In this window, right-click F-PROT Antivirus for Windows system and select Properties.
- In the Startup type, select Disabled.
- Click Apply and then OK. For Windows 2000 users, please restart your computer.
- For Windows XP and 2003 users, after disabling the F-PROT Antivirus system service, end the "FPAVServer"
process in the Windows Task Manager. To open Windows Task Manager, right-click an empty space on the taskbar,
and then click Task Manager.
- Click the Processes tab.
- On the Processes tab, click FPAVserver.exe, and then click End Task or End Process.
Restarting F-PROT Antivirus system service
- Press Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
- In the windows, right-click F-PROT Antivirus for Windows system and select Properties.
- In the Startup type, select Automatic. Also, in the Service status, click Start.
- Click OK.
