Please note that version 6 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows has been released. We recommend that all Home, Corporate and Mail Server users of version 3 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows upgrade their program to the newest version as soon as possible.

I had the trial version and am now unable to successfully install the licensed version.

Please note that you will have to uninstall the trial version before you install the licensed version.

In order to uninstall F-PROT Antivirus please follow this procedure:

1. Go to Start and then point to All Programs.
2. From the "All Programs" menu select F-PROT Antivirus.
3. Select Uninstall.
4. Click Yes to let Setup close the components (e.g. Scheduler and Realtime Protector).
5. In the "InstallShield Wizard" window, select Remove to remove all installed components.

If this does not work, you will have to uninstall manually:

1. Start by the Update Monitor.

To close the Update Monitor:

1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.
2. Right-click "F-PROT Antivirus Update Monitor" and select Properties. In the "Startup type" select Manual. Click OK to confirm this action.
3. Then restart your computer.
2. When the computer has rebooted, close the RealTime Protector and the Scheduler.

To close the RealTime Protector and the Scheduler:

1. In system tray, right-click the F-StopW and Scheduler icons and select Exit.
3. After closing them, delete the F-PROT Antivirus folder (default location: C:\PROGRAM FILES\FSI\F-PROT).

If you receive a message regarding denied access when deleting the F-PROT folder, please open the F-PROT Antivirus folder and delete the files one by one. You need to continue with the instructions even though you cannot remove all the files.

4. Then, go to Start -> Run, type regedit and click OK.
5. Remove the following registry keys below:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
{9FD12630-1991-46F5-8479-92DE1EAE87DA}]
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\FPA_RTP
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\F-PROT Antivirus Update Monitor

6. Then, remove the shortcuts for F-PROT Antivirus programs from the Start menu.
