Please note that version 6 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows has been released. We recommend that all Home, Corporate and Mail Server users of
version 3 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows upgrade their program to the newest version as soon as possible.
To update the virus signature files from the local server, first administrators must do the following:
- Administrators must copy the latest
virus signature files (sign2.def, sign.def, macro.def ) manually from "C:\Program Files\FSI\F-Prot" (default location) to a local
network update location where all client computers updates their virus signature files.
- The local network update location must be locally shared.
Then, users must set the program to update from LAN. Do the following:
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- From the main menu, click the Updater button.
- From this window, select Local network (LAN) and then specify local network update location.
- If you are updating for the first time, enter your Customer Number. To do this, click the Settings
button. From this window, enter your Customer Number EXACTLY like it was in the invoice e-mail you received.
You may also check the "Remember my Customer Number" box, so you do not have to enter your Customer Number
the next you check for updates. Click OK.
After setting up the Updater, you are now then ready to update the virus signature files from the local network. Do the following:
- Run F-PROT Antivirus.
- From the main menu, click the Updater button.
- Click on the Update button and the Updater will download the latest signature files.
For your convenience, use the F-PROT Scheduler or the Windows Scheduler to automatically update the virus signature files. For further information, see
Updating automatically.
