Please note that version 6 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows has been released. We recommend that all Home, Corporate and Mail Server users of version 3 of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows upgrade their program to the newest version as soon as possible.

Notes:

• Before you begin with the installation, please see the system requirements of F-PROT Antivirus.
• F-PROT Antivirus makes sure you have the administrative authority on the computer. F-PROT Antivirus must be installed on an account that has adequate permissions to perform its functions properly. If you are unsure about your permissions please contact your system's administrator or refer to your computer's user guide before proceeding.
• A valid Customer Number is needed to log into the Customer Zone. To receive a Customer Number, please buy a subscription of F-PROT Antivirus.

Please select the appropriate product of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows:

• Downloading and installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Home
• Downloading and installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Corporate
• Downloading and installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Mail Servers

Downloading and installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Home

1. Browse to our download center at http://www.f-prot.com/download/
2. In the download page, enter your Customer Number to login to the Customer Zone.

If you are having problems logging in to the Customer Zone, please see I cannot login to the Customer Zone.

3. In the Customer Zone, click the arrow for F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Home Use (see below).



In the new window, click the download arrow for F-PROT Antivirus for Windows 98/98SE/ME, Version 3, Internet Update to start downloading the program (see below).



4. In the "File Download" window, click either Run/Open or Save to download and install the program files on your computer.
• Run/Open -- Allows you install the files immediately.
• Save -- Allows you to save the file to your hard disk.
5. In the "Internet Explorer - Security Warning" window that appears (only on Windows XP SP2), click Run.



Once the download is finished you are ready to install F-PROT Antivirus.

6. Click Setup to unpack the files and install them on your computer.



7. In the "InstallShield Wizard" window, click Next to start the installation.



8. Click Yes to accept all the terms of the preceding End-User License Agreement.
9. Click Next to start copying the files to your computer. The default destination path is C:\Program Files\FSI\F-PROT.
10. Select the type of Setup you prefer e.g. Typical, Compact, and Custom (see below). Then, click Next.
• Typical - This option will install all the components e.g. OnDemand Scanner, *DOS Scanner, Scheduler, Updater, and RealTime Protector.
• Compact - This option will install the minimum required components e.g. OnDemand Scanner, *DOS Scanner, Updater.
• Custom - This option will allow you to deselect the components you do not want to install. Recommended for advanced users.

11. Type a new folder name, or select one from the existing folder list. Click Next to continue.
12. Review the settings you have selected to install. Click Next (see below) and the files are then installed to your computer.



13. Click Next to run the Updater immediately (recommended).
14. Enter you Customer Number and check "Remember my Customer Number", then click OK (see below).



15. Your computer now needs to restart. Select either Yes or No to finish.

Downloading and installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Corporate

Note: If the mail server version of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows is already installed and you would like to install F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Corporate. The InstallShield Wizard will refer to the F-PROT Antivirus Setup Maintenance program and ask you if you would like to modify the current installation, repair the components, or remove the installed components. For further information, see Am I allowed to install both F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Mail Servers and F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Corporate on the same computer?

1. Download the file from the Customer Zone. For detailed instructions, please see steps 1 to 5 in "Downloading and installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Home"
2. Click Setup to unpack the files and install them on your computer.
3. In the "InstallShield Wizard" window, click Next to start the installation.
4. Click Yes to accept all the terms of the preceding End-User License Agreement.
5. Click Next to start copying the files to your computer. The default destination path is C:\Program Files\FSI\F-PROT.

Downloading and installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Mail Servers

Note: If the corporate version of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows is already installed and you would like to install F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Mail Servers. The InstallShield Wizard will refer to the F-PROT Antivirus Setup Maintenance program and ask you if you would like to modify the current installation, repair the components, or remove the installed components. For further information, see Am I allowed to install both F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Mail Servers and F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Corporate on the same computer?

The instructions for installing F-PROT Antivirus for Windows Mail Server is identical to the above instructions. Please be aware that the RealTime Protector is installed by default, therefore, you may consider deselecting the RealTime Protector since this component is not suitable for the environment. During the installation, select "Custom" setup and then deselect the RealTime Protector to prevent it from being installed on your computer.
