|Will F-PROT Antivirus protect my computer from Windows Metafile (.wmf) exploits?|
Yes. F-PROT Antivirus scans WMF files and detects all known exploits of WMF vulnerabilities.
F-PROT Antivirus also allows you to block attachments with false extensions based on their real extensions (for example .wmf files disguised as .jpg or .png files).
To protect your computer from future WMF file exploits, then add WMF files to the stoplist in the F-PROT Antivirus Mail Scanner. By adding WMF files to the stoplist you are blocking WMF files based not only on their extensions but also on the actual content of the files. Any WMF file that matches the stoplist criteria will be removed and stored in quarantine. For further information on creating a stoplist, see How can I block attachments that arrive with incoming e-mail?.
For further information on WMF file exploits, see Serious vulnerability in rendering of Windows Metafile (.wmf) images.
Note: This feature is based on versions 4.6.4 of F-PROT Antivirus for UNIX and newer.See also:
