When I run F-PROT Antivirus on my mailbox it detects a virus but it cannot disinfect it.

The reason for this is the same as why F-PROT Antivirus does not disinfect files within archives. MIME encoded messages are in fact archives and F-PROT Antivirus does not support extracting file objects, disinfecting them and then re-inserting them into the archive. F-PROT Antivirus does, however, scan inside archives of up to 64 kB in size.
