|How does F-PROT Antivirus for Exchange work?|
The picture below is the general scheme of how F-PROT Antivirus for Exchange works:
The F-PROT scanning engine will scan all incoming e-mail in order to intercept all virus infected messages and prevent them from infecting the system.
F-PROT Antivirus for Exchange will also scan all outgoing e-mail.
Following the scheme alone you can see that all messages will go through the F-PROT Antivirus for Exchange and only clean messages are forwarded to the intended recipient. If an infected message cannot be disinfected it will be stored in the Quarantined items folder.
Messages that cannot be disinfected are stored in the Quarantined items. If the Quarantined items are re-scanned after an update of the virus signature files, the F-PROT scanning engine may be able to disinfect previously quarantined messages and thus send them to the recipient's inbox.
Infected messages are treated according to the administrator's guidelines; whether they are disinfected, deleted or isolated in the Quarantined items.
