  • Design to run on Windows 98, 98SE, Me, 2000, 2003 and Windows XP platforms
  • Requires 9 megabytes (MB) of free disk space
  • Requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or later for successful installation and updating of virus signature files.

Please note that F-PROT Antivirus for Windows can be installed on 64-bit operating systems but some components might not work properly.

F-PROT Antivirus for DOS

  • IBM PC compatible computer.
  • Version 3.x requires DOS 3.3 or better, and at least an 80386 computer with 4MB of memory.
  • Runs under Windows 3.x, Windows 95, 98, ME or UNIX, LINUX or Macintosh workstation running a DOS or Windows emulator. See also F-PROT Antivirus for Linux.
  • F-PROT Antivirus for DOS will work on most network systems.

System recommendations for F-PROT Antivirus for UNIX

F-PROT Antivirus for UNIX Mail Servers

The system recommendation describes below is for F-PROT Antivirus for UNIX Mail Servers. All the information in this document applies to F-PROT Antivirus for Linux (x86) Mail Servers, F-PROT Antivirus for BSD (x86) Mail Servers, F-PROT Antivirus for Solaris (SPARC / x86) Mail Servers, F-PROT Antivirus for Linux on IBM zSeries (S/390) Servers, F-PROT Antivirus for AIX on IBM pSeries (RS/6000) Servers, unless stated otherwise.

Although F-PROT Antivirus for UNIX Mail Servers will operate on less vigorous machines, this recommendation is to ensure optimum system operation.

  • Intel Pentium or higher / AMD K5 or higher
  • Most UNIX distributions, including SuSE, Red Hat and Debian
  • 10 MB of available hard disk space

System requirements for F-PROT Antivirus Mail Scanner:

F-PROT Antivirus Mail Scanner depends on the Perl 5.8 interpreter being present. If your computer does not have Perl 5.8 installed by default, please consult your manual on how to install it.

F-PROT Antivirus Mail Scanner also depends on a couple of Perl modules. MIME::Base64 and MIME::QuotedPrint need to be present on your system in order for Anomy to work. To install these modules, run the command 'perl -MCPAN -e shell' from your command-prompt as root. Complete the questionnaire, and when you reach the cpan prompt ("cpan> ") type in "install MIME::Base64". Next, type in "install MIME::QuotedPrint". That should complete the installation of the two modules.

Please note if your system meets the requirements stated here above but you still receive a failed dependencies error, use the --nodeps argument when trying to install the rpm, e.g.

rpm -Uvh --nodeps fp-UNIX-ms-4.3.2-1.i386.rpm

F-PROT Antivirus for UNIX File Servers

The system recommendation describes is for F-PROT Antivirus for UNIX File Servers. All the information in this document applies to F-PROT Antivirus for Linux (x86) File Servers, F-PROT Antivirus for BSD (x86) File Servers and F-PROT Antivirus for Solaris (SPARC / x86) File Servers, unless stated otherwise.

Although F-PROT Antivirus for File Servers will operate on less vigorous machines, this recommendation is to ensure optimum system operation.

  • Intel Pentium or higher / AMD K5 or higher
  • Most UNIX distributions, including SuSE, Red Hat and Debian
  • 10 MB of available hard disk space

F-PROT Antivirus for Solaris File Servers

  • Intel x86 compatible processor
  • Running the Solaris Operating System, version 9.0 or compatible.
  • 10 MB of available hard disk space
  • Perl 5.8 interpreter

F-PROT Antivirus for BSD File Servers

  • Intel Pentium or higher / AMD K5 or higher
  • FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD
  • 10 MB of available hard disk space

F-PROT Antivirus for IBM zSeries (S/390) File Servers

  • UNIX running the UNIX operating system on IBM zSeries (S/390)
  • 10 MB of free disk space

In order to successfully install F-PROT Antivirus for Exchange, administrators must make sure that the computer meets the following system requirements:

Supported platforms:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server with Service Pack 1 or higher
  • Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server

Please note! Microsoft requires that you run Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server on Windows 2000 Server. Please make sure that the system recommendations from Microsoft are met to guarantee that F-PROT Antivirus for Exchange will function correctly.
