F-PROT AVES scans your e-mail for key phrases and format characteristics that have been identified as "spam-characteristics". Each of these phrases and characteristics recognised by F-PROT AVES give the e-mail message a point. When the message has been scanned the total score of the points that the message received determines what will become of the message. If the score is higher than a certain pre-determined number, then the message will be marked as spam.
If an e-mail message receives a high score from the spam filters F-PROT AVES adds the spam marker "[Might be spam]" in its subject line. Outlook Express has a built in mail rule function, which can be used to filter and sort incoming mail. Using these mail rules you can send all spam into a special spam folder, or straight to the Recycle bin.
This guide takes you step by step through creating a folder in Outlook Express called "Spam" and a rule that routes all e-mail marked "Might be spam" to that folder.
