As part of FRISK Software's ambition to consistently provide our customers with the best possible protection, F-PROT Antivirus is regularly updated with new additions and improvements. Program updates are included in the customer license and are available for download throughout the license period.

Virus signature file updates
The virus signature files are an integral part of F-PROT Antivirus's threat detection capabilities. They are updated every few days and whenever necessary.

Users of F-PROT Antivirus can subscribe to the F-PROT Antivirus Alert Service and choose to receive e-mail alerts whenever virus signature files are updated and / or whenever a new version of F-PROT Antivirus is released.

Support
An F-PROT Antivirus for Windows home-user license includes unlimited support for the duration of the license period. Online support is provided via our webbased support center but support is also provided via e-mail and telephone.

One of the central features of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows is the RealTime Protector, which monitors all files accessed by your system and denies access to infected, suspicious or malicious files that may harm your system in any way.

The RealTime Protector starts up with the computer, and stays running in the background. The RealTime Protector is always on the look-out, scanning files as they are downloaded, opened, copied, etc. ready to intercept any potential security threat.

The OnDemand Scanner is the the user's first port of call for program actions, settings, and update monitoring. From here you can scan your system for viruses, perform multiple scan tasks in Advanced mode, and start any of the components included with F-PROT Antivirus for Windows. Also, F-PROT Antivirus for Windows checks for new virus signature files at regular intervals whenever the system is online. The virus signature file update status is displayed conspicuosly within the OnDemand Scanner, so you can see at glance whether updates are needed.

This simple, yet vital part of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows handles the updates of your virus definition files. These files contain information about all viruses F-PROT Antivirus detects and a remedy for each of them. It can be set to download via the Internet (with or without a proxy) or from a specified path on a local network.

Using the Scheduler you can set the F-Prot Antivirus OnDemand Scanner to scan your system for viruses at a specified time on any particular day. It is also possible to set the Updater component to update the virus definition files at regular intervals to keep your system alert to all the newest threats.

The F-PROT Antivirus Command-Line Scanner is included in F-PROT Antivirus for Windows and can be extremely useful if a virus infection ever leads to Windows becoming inoperable.
