A new variant of the Sober family of mass-mailers quickly gains considerable distribution.

W32/Sober.J@mm (alias: W32/Clonz.A@mm) started spreading this morning, 19 November 2004. Due to the considerable distribution this new member of the Sober family of mass-mailers has gained in a short period of time W32/Sober.J@mm has been classified as high risk.

W32/Sober.J@mm was quickly detected by FRISK Software virus analysts and virus signature files providing protection against this threat were released soon thereafter.

Threat Detection

The latest versions of F-Prot Antivirus detect W32/Sober.J@mm using virus signature files dated 19 November 2004 or later.
