FRISK Software International

F-PROT Antivirus for Linux and Solaris

29 November 2007

FRISK Software has released F-PROT Antivirus 6.0.1 for Linux x86, Solaris Sparc and Solaris x86.

This is a minor bugfix release for Linux but a major feature upgrade for the Solaris version as this marks the first release of our next generation version 6 virus scanning engine on the Solaris platform.

From the Release Notes:

  • Now released for Solaris (sparc 32 bit, intel 32 and 64 bit) and Linux 64 bit in addition to the Linux 32 bit version.
  • Scan engine upgraded. Detection is now considerably improved.
  • An updated version of Anomy is now incorporated to resolve certain mail scanner issues.

The upgrade for Solaris from the 4.6.x generation of our unix product line to the 6.0.x generation marks a dramatic change as the product is moved to our latest, up-to-date virus scanning engine.
