Version 3.15 of F-Prot Antivirus for Windows released

FRISK Software announces the release of a new version of one of the world’s most popular and powerful antivirus products, F-Prot Antivirus for Windows. With version 3.15, F-Prot Antivirus for Windows will take advantage of the added features introduced by Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), to be released by Microsoft later this summer. In preparation for this release, FRISK Software has worked in close cooperation with Microsoft to provide smooth interaction with Windows XP SP2 and the new Windows Security Center.

The most important new feature introduced in version 3.15 of F-Prot Antivirus for Windows is the addition of an online virus signature file update checking facility, called the F-Prot Antivirus Update Monitor. As a result, the program will now automatically check for new virus signature files, every fifteen minutes, whenever the system is online. The Update Monitor does not download any files but is, in effect, an extension to the F-Prot Antivirus Updater, notifying the user when new virus signature files need to be downloaded.

The virus signature files update status information is conspicuously displayed on the program's startup so that users can see at a glance whether updates are needed. Users can then download the new virus signature files, either manually with the Updater or set the Scheduler to do so at regular intervals. As a result of the addition of the F-Prot Antivirus Update Monitor, it is now even easier than before for users to ensure the constant security of their systems against new and emerging threats.

The new F-Prot Antivirus Update Monitor will also communicate with the new Security Center in Windows XP SP2, to be released later this summer, to help you manage the security of your computer and monitor the status of security updates.
