New versions of F-Prot Antivirus for all UNIX based platforms released.

FRISK Software has now released new versions of F-Prot Antivirus for all UNIX based platforms. The version number of F-Prot Antivirus for Linux x86, for BSD x86, for Solaris SPARC, for Solaris x86, for AIX on IBM pSeries and for Linux on IBM zSeries is now 4.4.2

All of these newest versions include a number of bugfixes, in particular improvements in MIME parsing that allow for better handling of non-standard e-mail messages sent by a small number of mass-mailing worms. The improvements in MIME parsing are of interest to all F-Prot Antvirus for UNIX users, but the other bugfixes are of particular benefit to users of F-Prot Antivirus for Solaris SPARC.

In addition, F-Prot Antivirus for Solaris SPARC has received special attention with further enhanced capabilities in the scanning of password protected ZIP files. Users of F-Prot Antivirus for Solaris SPARC and x86 should note that a new Mail Server startup script (RC-script) has been added to the program while the Daemon Scanner startup script has been renamed in accordance with other F-Prot Antivirus for UNIX products.

We recommend that users of F-Prot Antivirus for Linux x86, BSD x86, Solaris SPARC, Solaris x86, AIX on IBM pSeries and Linux on IBM zSeries systems update their programs to these newest versions as soon as possible.
