New version of F-Prot Antivirus for Exchange released

Version 1.1.2 of F-Prot Antivirus for Exchange has been released.

This newest version of F-Prot Antivirus for Exchange provides improved scanning of encrypted executables and password protected ZIP archives. Improved scanning techniques allow F-Prot Antivirus for Exchange to better detect potentially damaging executables hidden in such encrypted and password protected archives and warn users of the danger.

The changes introduced in version 1.1.2 of F-Prot Antivirus for Exchange effectively constitute a raising of the security standard by which F-Prot Antivirus for Exchange scans and sorts attachments. However, these safety measures may result in a small number of false positives if legitimate executables of a certain length are sent within password protected ZIP archives. Users should therefore be wary of sending executables in this manner and seek other means of transporting such files.

We recommend that users of F-Prot Antivirus for Exchange update their programs to version 1.1.2 as soon as possible.
