================================================================== F-PROT ANTIVIRUS 3.15 for Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP RELEASE NOTES ================================================================== This document describes the changes in the software since F-Prot Antivirus 3.14e. MAJOR ENHANCEMENTS ------------------ This new version 3.15 introduces an online virus signature update checking facility, called F-Prot Antivirus Update Monitor (FPAV UPDM), that automatically checks for new available virus signature files at regular intervals, whenever the system is online. Note that this service does not download any files. To download and install updated virus signature files you should either use the F-Prot Antivirus Updater for manual updates or the F-Prot Antivirus Scheduler for scheduled automatic updates. Version 3.15 also takes advantage of new security features that will be introduced in Microsoft Windows XP in Service Pack 2 (SP2), to be released by Microsoft later this summer. The new F-Prot Antivirus Update Monitor will communicate with the new Security Center in Windows XP SP2 to help you manage the security of your computer and monitor the status of security updates. Also, with F-Prot Antivirus' update status displayed conspicuously in the interface of the OnDemand Scanner, you can now see at a glance whether new virus signature files need to be downloaded, even if you are not using Windows XP SP2. MINOR ENHANCEMENTS AND BUGFIXES ------------------------------- Various minor bugs were fixed. KNOWN ISSUES ------------------------------- Some problems have been reported with Eudora 3.x on Windows 98 and Eudora 4.x on Windows 98 with this new version. These problems are not present in version 6.1, the latest version of Eudora. 2004-06-30
